The Boot Factory Café
Where History Meets Good Food
Set within one of Pentridge’s most historic buildings, The Boot Factory Café is a family-owned café with a story dating back to the 1850s.
Originally part of the Coburg Penitentiary, the building was once home to the prison’s boot and shoe workshop, where well-behaved prisoners made footwear for the prison guards. Today, this beautifully preserved piece of Pentridge history has been transformed into a welcoming destination for good food, great coffee and memorable gatherings.
By day, The Boot Factory Café serves breakfast, brunch and lunch in a relaxed, welcoming setting. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the space transforms into Harper & Sole, our intimate restaurant offering a different dining experience, menu and atmosphere — all within the same historic walls.
Whether you're joining us for a casual meal or celebrating a special occasion, there’s always a reason to visit. We also offer flexible spaces for private functions, events and group gatherings.
Come for the history. Stay for the food, atmosphere and hospitality.
